WAT’s HOT: Though it’s a startup, there are very few players, or no players, who are effectively operational in India on this model. So they have huge market potential. Their major target audience could be the older generation who will probably have huge collection. Also, with the number of Facebook users above 65 years of age have increasing considerably, ScanCorner could help them digitize their pictures from back in the day and share in with family on the social networking website.

WAT’s NOT: In India, ScanCorner have a great scope. Internationally, we are a bit skeptical as there are well-established players like ScanCafe who are better known as compared to the startup. Also, if the target audience is in fact the older generation, then conveying the technological aspects of the business will be a bit difficult considering their technical know how. One aspect that did catch our eye was that ScanCorner has pretty much replicated the ScanCafe website. Considering the two companies have almost the same names and similar websites, is this an attempt by the startup to steal some audience from the bigger fish in the sea?
